Cynthia Herr, MSW, RSW
Founder, Psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Cynthia — a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW), and the founder of Refined Wellness Counselling Services.
With over 28 years of experience in hospital and community mental health settings, I’ve worked closely with individuals navigating the emotional challenges that come with chronic illness, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Time and again, I met clients who felt overwhelmed, unheard, and stuck in healthcare systems that didn’t fully meet their needs. Many were struggling – not just with their health, but with the emotional impact of illness on their daily lives and relationships.
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and rooted in evidence-based methods. I draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Motivational Interviewing. Adapting these approaches to suit your unique needs and goals, we will work together to address anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional burnout, and the mental health impact of living with chronic health issues.
I offer in-person counselling in St. Thomas, Ontario, as well as virtual therapy to clients throughout Ontario and Nova Scotia.
If you’re looking for in-person therapy in St. Thomas, or online therapy in Ontario or Nova Scotia, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation. Let’s take the next step in your healing journey — together.
