About Therapy

When we are no longer able to change a situation –
we are challenged to change ourselves.  – Viktor E. Frankl

Getting the help you need

It's okay to feel overwhelmed

Life can be so difficult at times – we’ve all experienced this at one time or another.  Determining whether therapy can help, and how to find it, may be adding to your stress. Your problems may feel overwhelming and, at times, not knowing what your future holds leads you to have thoughts of hopelessness, powerlessness – even despair. You’ve lost the joy you used to have and, despite having had many years to learn life’s “lessons”, you still feel as though you haven’t got your “stuff” together. You want things to be different, but you aren’t sure how to make that happen …. or if you even have the energy left in you to make change.

We all need to lean on others sometimes …

It takes courage to admit you need help

Today is a chance for a new beginning … and we are here to help.  We understand that reaching out might feel scary – many of our clients tell us that when they first connect with us. But ….we’ve got you!  Our commitment to you is this – whether you are new to therapy or have seen many therapists throughout your life, we will listen, we will show you compassion, we will meet you wherever you’re starting from, and will honour the strength and courage it took for you to reach out to us.

Therapy can be beneficial in so many ways.  In the case of chronic physical and mental health issues, it can help you address both the emotional and practical challenges associated with managing a chronic condition. Adversity (in any part of your life) involves navigating a range of emotions, including fear, frustration, sadness, grief, and anxiety. In fact … one of the things we believe is that pretty much whatever emotions you have been experiencing are valid!

Therapy Can Help

What can I expect therapy to “look like?”

Well … that’s a tough question. Therapy varies from person to person, so no one treatment plan is going to be the exact same for two people. That’s actually the GOOD news – your treatment plan is created with you, to meet your unique needs! You can expect therapy to be a place where you feel understood, where you are encouraged to be a leader in your care, and where we will work together to learn new strategies to cope with the issues you’re struggling with. You can also expect us to help identify and treat any existing mental health issues, to improve relationships that are important to you, and to help you become an advocate for yourself.

These are just a few things you can expect from therapy with us.  We look forward to the opportunity to connect with you … to hear and honour your story … to support you … to understand what you’ve been struggling with … and to help you overcome your emotional and physical pain.
